Looking back on our second Home Energy Surgery

On Tuesday 3rd June, we ran the second of a series of Home Energy Surgeries at the beautiful Oldbury-on-Severn Memorial Hall, in partnership with Retrofit West.

The purpose of these events is to bring information about retrofitting energy saving and generation technologies in domestic properties to members of our community.

At these informal drop-in sessions, members of the CATSA and Retrofit West teams are available to answer any questions you have about retrofit – from the big ambitious projects, right down to improving insulation and fixing draughts – over an all-important cup of tea and snacks.

On the day, we had the pleasure of talking to Chris, the steward of the Hall, about the work he and the other trustees have done to improve the sustainability of the Hall and their plans for the future. We talked in detail about different options for flooring insulation which can make a huge difference to suspended wood floors, like the beautiful one at the Hall!

We also met several local residents and discussed the merits and practicalities of switching to a heat pump from oil-fired central heating, and options for insulation.

Attendees were interested in the free and independent advice available from Retrofit West, including home visits designed to help homeowners understand their property’s needs and plan next steps. More information is available on their website.
