On Saturday 26th April, we ran the first of a series of Home Energy Surgeries at the beautiful Rockhampton Village Hall, in partnership with Retrofit West.

The purpose of these events is to bring information about retrofitting energy saving and generation technologies in domestic properties to members of our community.
At these informal drop-in sessions, members of the CATSA and Retrofit West teams are available to answer any questions you have about retrofit – from the big ambitious projects, right down to improving insulation and fixing draughts – over an all-important cup of tea and slice of cake.
On the day we spoke with one local resident planning to install a heat pump at their off-gas property: they were due to receive a government grant and were already talking to contractors about their project. Retrofit West’s impartial energy experts were able to suggest some additional factors to consider in their planning and project timeline, and signpost them to further information.

We also heard from residents at a much earlier stage in their retrofit journey, who were enquiring about where to start and how to navigate the different options, technologies, and sources of funding available. They were delighted to hear about the free advice and home visits offered by Retrofit West, designed to help homeowners understand their property’s needs and plan next steps.

Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for CATSA and Retrofit West to learn more about local needs and interests in terms of domestic energy efficiency; and for us to share some useful information with members of our community.
