Spring 2026
Out and About: A Busy Few Months for CATSA
It has been an incredibly active start to the year for CATSA. Our mission to help local residents sustainably upgrade their homes and explore community energy projects has taken us all over the region, from business forums to local parish halls.
Here is a quick look at where we’ve been and what we’ve been up to:
Engaging Local Businesses: Chamber of Commerce
We recently attended the Thornbury Chamber of Commerce meeting to discuss how local businesses and the wider community can collaborate on green initiatives. A major highlight was discussion on community-owned wind power and spending time “myth-busting” common misconceptions. Community-led energy isn’t just feasible, it’s a powerful way to secure local energy independence and lower costs.
Community Celebrations: Vintage & Easter Event
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces at Thornbury’s Vintage and Easter Event! Our stall was buzzing with conversations about home retrofitting and energy-saving tips. Whether you were there for the classic cars or the chocolate, thank you for stopping by to chat about how we can make Thornbury more resilient to climate change.
Listening to Our Neighbours: Parish Assemblies
Democracy in action! Members of the CATSA team attended the Parish Assembly meetings in Alveston and Thornbury. These meetings are vital for us to understand the specific concerns of different neighbourhoods. In Alveston, we’ve previously worked on thermal imaging surveys to identify heat loss in homes, and these assemblies allow us to share those results and plan the next steps for a greener South Gloucestershire.
Come and See Us This Saturday!
We aren’t slowing down yet! We’ll be at the Bloom event this Saturday on Thornbury High Street.
- When: This Saturday, 2nd May
- Where: CATSA Stall, High Street, Thornbury
- What: Chat with our team, pick up some advice on grants for home upgrades, or just say hello!
We look forward to seeing you there and continuing the conversation on how we can all take climate action together.
